Common Threads

"Common Threads" bring together related line items from more than one area of the budget. These are closely connected services that are funded through different state agencies.

The "common threads" in the Children's Budget are:

Tax Spending which includes a variety of tax breaks targeting children or families with children.

Children with Disabilities which includes a range of programs specifically for children of all ages with disabilities.

Children's Mental Health which includes programs that provide supports and services for children with particular mental health needs.

Domestic Violence which includes services for children who are themselves the victims of or witnesses to domestic violence.

Food & Nutrition which includes the programs that provide food assistance, subsidized meals and nutrition assistance for children.

Youth Engagement which includes a variety of programs supporting civic engagement, employment or violence prevention for young people.
