Children's Mental Health

There are several mental health programs throughout different areas of the budget that offer supports and services for children in need of mental health services in early childhood or other school settings, or in clinical or residential settings. A large share of the mental health services for children ages 3-22 is provided by local school systems, and these cannot be tracked by identifiable budget line items.

The mental health programs for children in the budget include mental health consultation services for early educators, health insurance coverage for screening and treatment under the MassHealth program, community-based and residential clinical treatment, and services to prevent and treat substance abuse.
