Child Advocacy

While most of the services that help children and their families are carried out by specific state agencies, there are some independent state child advocacy offices that coordinate with state agencies and other organizations in Massachusetts to assure the health and welfare of children and youth in Massachusetts.

Independent child advocacy offices include the Office of the Child Advocate which ensures that children served by the welfare or juvenile justice systems are protected from harm and receive assistance in a timely and appropriate manner. The Massachusetts Commission on Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Youth works with state agencies to attend to the needs of GLBTQ youth.
